Plagiarism policy

The scientific and production journal “Quarantine and Plant Protection” accepts for publication only original articles that have not been previously published in other publications.

The submitted manuscripts are checked for textual borrowings. Papers that reveal plagiarism or textual borrowings without references to the original source are rejected by the editorial board.

Plagiarism before publication

The editorial board of the scientific and production journal “Quarantine and Plant Protection” analyzes any case of plagiarism on the merits.  If plagiarism or text borrowing is detected by editors or reviewers at any stage of preparation for publication of the manuscript, the author (s) are warned about the need to rewrite the text or make a reference to the original source.  If the plagiarism is 25% or more, the article may be rejected and the author's employer will be notified.

Plagiarism check policy

Manuscripts that contain less than 25% plagiarism will be immediately sent to the authors for review, and if more than 25% plagiarism is rejected without editorial review.  Authors are encouraged to review textual borrowings and plagiarism in the manuscript and re-submit the article in a new edition.

The percentage of plagiarism is calculated by the software and evaluated by the editorial board.

Plagiarism after publication

In case of detection of plagiarism after publication, the editorial board analyzes this fact, and the editorial office informs the author.  Pages that contain plagiarism will be marked in the PDF.  Depending on the extent of plagiarism, the material may be revoked (deleted).

Recommendations for avoiding plagiarism

  • Use quotation marks for words taken literally from the source.
  • Do not change parts of the quote in the context of the sentence.
  • Use separate characters for the quote in the quote.
  • Use three dots (space and three dots) for the part of the omitted quotation.
  • Use parentheses for added own words.
  • Limit the use of direct quotes.

Try to paraphrase or summarize information from different sources using your own words.

Authors are responsible for obtaining copyright permission to reproduce illustrations, tables, drawings taken from other authors and / or sources.  A link to the source should be placed at the bottom below each item.

Some authors may write several chapters for several different books that have changed only slightly.  Each manuscript is protected by copyright after its publication.  As the author no longer owns the rights to these sections, they should not be repeated.  The author may not copy his own material for a new manuscript without the permission of the copyright owner.  An exception may be when quoting short phrases of the author from his own work with the relevant links.
